have you heard of FM magazine? until last week i had no idea what the magazine was all about. what does "FM" stand for? the F*cking Mountains" apparently. well, FM was throwing a party. all i knew about this party is that it was at the new sugarcube building downtown and this was the perfect excuse to see the interior and kick-off my friday night.
we arrived at the party which happened to be on a vacant floor. the only area that was built out was the common corridor. nothing special. the six of us had zero expectations. arriving fashionably late, or so we thought. maybe 20 people were there when we arrived, a small folding table/bar with limited drinks, ice in a trash can, and industrial lighting.
we headed straight for the bar.
we were convinced this party was going no where. a couple of hipsters that apparently attend all of the FM parties informed us the party was just warming up. so, we stuck it out.
it definitely warmed up. after a few, the open floor plate was full. scott lefavor had started a "paint by numbers" canvas. he provided the black and white canvas with each section numbered and guests were able to complete the painting.
there was a fashion show, which took forever to start.
after countless individuals had tripped over the runway, which just so happened to be a couple rows of tea light candles, the show had finally started. the show was titled "pioneer", with clothing provided by "goldyn", and the music performed by "cada dia". a little dark and creepy for my taste, but the music worked well with the models faceless expressions.
above: "pioneer" expressionless models
we were impressed. the magazine isn't half bad either.
