happy birthday to me!

happy 31^st to me!  i may be one of the only people that luvs their birthday. and when i say luv i mean i celebrate for a month. i tried to not make a big deal out of it, but it happened again this year. and my amazing friends pulled off a kick-ass dinner party. small, intimate group, but fun. filled with champagne, wine, italian food, cupcakes, and a {donkey} piñata. today i plan to have a fabulous lunch in the sun. later in the afternoon i will take a bike ride with my special friend to root down to enjoy some cocktails on the patio and 80 degrees of sunshine.

 

biennial of the americas | 2010

tomte: modern craft

while on a fantastic little bike ride thru denver a couple saturdays ago, my good friend and I ran into this fine little shop. tomte: modern craft. it features local crafts such as silkscreen cards, totes, jewelry, etc.

i remember my mom having a terrarium in our living room growing up. really the living room? the base was similar to the saarinen “tulip” base with a large acrylic dome top. and inside were not only plants and interesting foliage, but salamanders {grose}. really in the living room? well, terrariums are quite the trend these days with custom organic shaped glass, colorful cactus, and plants. without taking you back to the days of shag carpet. the following are some of my favorites.

c. domsai terrariums. 11” high with mouth blown glass. Weirdly appealing.

let there be light {ing}

lighting…it is a crucial element in the design world and it will make or break your space. always test your fixtures (or the level of wattage) you plan to use in a space, and remember to install dimmers to the necessary switches throughout. use your best judgment or call me.
