pick of the day | felt

“picks of the day” aren’t really my thing, but today is a new day….

you could make anything out of felt and i would { probably } like it. well, right now i’m going to introduce you to a modest designer from portland, named aurelie tu. it’s simple, she’s commissioned local groups in portland to hand-make the following { rad } felt series. benefiting herself and the community as a whole. currently she works together with the woman at the YWCA to create these pieces.

benjamin moore “experts page” was written up in the new york times today.

 

reads | campana brothers

3 years ago i was introduced to a talented curator from the denver art museum. actually, now that i think about it, i don’t think there was much of an introduction. we were just directed to take a picture together wondering whom the other person was standing next to us that could be so important.

 

the curator is darrin alfred (the attached article is from 2007 and he is now the Associate Curator). we’ve had the privilege of working closely together last year on design after dark and now we’ve become great friends.

besides being great company on sundays riding bikes, he can write. recently {1 year ago} he was approached to contribute to a book on the campana brothers titled, “campana brothers complete works (so far)”. the campana brothers are designers from brazil, known for such designs as the “favela” and “cane” chair.

mr. darrin alfred will be signing books at the museum later this summer. stay tuned for more information.

DC presents luncheon by design | may 5th

as you know the department of architecture, design, and graphics for the denver art museum is near and dear to my heart. i spend ½ the year working on the “design after dark” event to help support the department. well, the “luncheon by design” event is no different. with the exception that i don’t spend any time planning, i just get to spread the word about this fabulous event. one word, hermes. click here to read about the event and hermes involvement.
