on my little trip this past weekend to south carolina, i found out a couple things: 1) it’s a ridiculously {humid} state and 2) they {and i} luv jack johnson! weird i know, but notice the similarities between their state flag (left) and his “in between dreams” album cover (right). identical, right?
ok, maybe not identical… but may we discuss the SC flag? i luv it! it’s everything that’s right about labels: straightforward, complimentary, and subtle. some might say it’s much less controversial from their previous flag…just sayin’.
it’s time to have fun. the sun is out and people are feeling the summer air. four years ago, my girlfriends made a pact to make sure we would gather every memorial day weekend { extra day off}. it started with a bachelorette party in scottsdale, which we enjoyed so much we returned the 2nd year. scottsdale proved to be too boring {and made us feel old} so we had to revive our annual trip.. our 3rd year was spent celebrating a cluster of birthdays, weddings, and youth. naturally, playa del carmen was the hotspot of 09’.…….finally, year 4, well, we teetered with nyc and miami, but after many discussions this memorial day weekend {and twelve girls} are destined to lake watertree {south carolina}.
expect a wrap up on my friend laura’s {she writes the hollywood housewife} remodeled lake house. and what happens in watertree stays in watertree {oh, we aren’t that crazy…. }.
in the meantime, grab that sparkling cocktail while i kick off this weekend celebration with playful outdoor fun…
when it comes to text….you’ve got my numba! there’s something to be said about a graphic image strictly with fonts. placement, size, and color {or lack thereof} are the keys of ingredients to a beautiful thing. naturally, i was thrilled to hear my friend, mister alfred was curating/hosting an exhibition {un}titled, “about face” at the denver art museum. if you are around this weekend you MUST attend. may 28th is the “untitled” typo exhibit & may 29th is the actual typography demonstration with matter studio & others.
every once in a while, when a classic furniture piece is reintroduced they get it right. they, this time, being emeco and coca-cola classico. while working behind the scenes for 4 years for dwr, these companies have been researching to design a 111 navy chair plastic version of the 1006 navy chair and available in several slick colors. made in the u.s. of a.
ideally, this chair will keep 3 million coke bottles out of a landfill each year…question, why are people drinking that much soda to begin with?
i digress.
gentle to mother earth aaaand kind to your pocket book…$230.
